Your data, your call
Last updated: June 2026
Heads up: this is a working draft, not legal advice. Please have it reviewed by a qualified solicitor before Bobwag launches.
The short version
Your ID and personal details live in a wallet on your phone, not on our servers. Nothing is shared with anyone unless you tap yes, and you can take any sharing back whenever you like.
1. Who we are
Bobwag is a citizen data wallet. In this policy, "Bobwag", "we" and "us" mean the company that operates the Bobwag app and this website. If you have any questions about your privacy, email us at bobwag@bobwag.com.
2. What we collect
We try to collect as little as possible. Depending on how you use Bobwag, that may include:
- An email address, if you join the waitlist or get in touch.
- Basic account details needed to set up and secure your wallet.
- Information you choose to verify and store in your wallet, which stays on your device.
- Limited technical data, such as app version and anonymised usage, to keep the service working.
Your verified identity and the personal data you keep in your wallet are held on your own device. We do not hold copies of them on our servers.
3. How we use it
We use the information above to run the waitlist, set up and protect your wallet, answer your questions, and improve the app. We do not sell your personal data. When you choose to share something with a company through Bobwag, that sharing happens on your terms, and you decide what is shared and for how long.
4. Sharing and getting paid
When you approve a request, the relevant information is shared with that company under the terms shown to you at the time. Your name stays hidden unless you choose to reveal it. Payments are made to your wallet, and you can move them to your bank.
5. Cookies
This website uses only the cookies it needs to work properly. We will ask before setting anything that is not essential. You can control cookies through your browser settings at any time.
6. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to see the data we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to object to or limit certain uses. To exercise any of these, email bobwag@bobwag.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
7. Keeping it safe
Your wallet is protected by your device security, such as your fingerprint or face. We use appropriate measures to protect the limited information we do hold, though no system can be promised to be completely secure.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of the page, and let you know if the change is significant.
